Filipinos are generally clannish
In Europe and America, it is seldom you will find a family living with grandparents much more with cousins. But in the Philippines, living with extended family members is part of the culture. Some foreigners who get married to Filipinos are suprised that the wife's cousins are living with together with the aunts and uncles. Maybe it is more for the love of the family hence Filipinos are closely-knit when it comes to relatives. In the US, I haven't seen such a setup except in Filipino homes. Americans are so independent that even their children who are 18 years old are urged to leave their home.
