Intramuros in Manila

Postby Alexandoy » Sun Mar 19, 2017 9:24 pm

Intramuros is one good place to go for a cultural trip. It is located near Rizal Park (a.k.a. Luneta) which is a big park with a view of Manila Bay. There’s also an oceanarium in Rizal Park with a hotel where you can stay overnight. You can walk your way to the Cultural Center grounds and pass by the Baywalk which is a pleasant strolling area. In the Cultural Center grounds, there are eateries around and bike rentals plus the famous Star City which is a theme park. Now, going back to Intramuros, it is a setting like in the movies where there are staff dressed in Spanish costume. You would see the legendary cobblestone fronting the oldest church there – San Agustin Church which is a stone’s throw away from the Manila Cathedral. And crossing the road on the northern side, you will get to Fort Santiago which was used as a garrison during the second world war.

That’s why there are lots of hotels in the area of Rizal Park because tourists can just walk to see the sights. But if you prefer a ride then you can take the calesa which is a horse-drawn carriage. Just be prepared to shell out $10 or more for a short ride.
